Introducing fiber artists to the wonders of alpaca

Picture

Piedmont Alpaca Triad

It all began with three friends and an inspiration.  The idea of a fiber event centered around alpaca began to germinate, and the Piedmont Alpaca Triad was formed to make it happen.

The three friends, Sharon, Bari, and Karen, each had an alpaca farm in the heart of Georgia's piedmont area.  Bari now lives in Texas.  Sharon raises suri alpacas, and Bari and Karen raise huacayas.

We hope that we can meet your alpaca fiber needs now and in the future.  The Piedmont Alpaca Triad through its individual breeding programs has produced many champion alpacas.  You would be hard pressed to find finer alpaca fleeces anywhere.  Please don't hesitate to call us for raw fleece, roving, and yarn.  We also offer alpacas for your breeding program or fiber quality geldings.

Alpaca Fiber

_We hope that you experience great joy as you create luxuriously soft and beautiful things with alpaca fiber.  Alpaca is truly a "green" fiber.  There is no lanolin, so no scouring is required.  Just a light wash with a mild detergent is all it takes to remove the dust.  The hay and grass bits are picked out by hand.  Some hand spinners prefer to spin the raw fleece without any washing.  Our wish is that alpaca fiber becomes a favorite staple in your stash and that each time you use it, you will think about the intelligent, gentle creatures from which it comes.
